FSF have been supporting the Kwinella Lower Basic School for two years and it has improved greatly. Before our intervention the school was struggling to sustain its teaching and learning effectively. There were several derelict buildings, and damaged classrooms, it had little sanitation, no water, no electricity, no furniture,  no teaching materials and low enrolment figures.

Now we are pleased to say that all of these negatives have been turned into positives with an increase in the enrolment figures from 370 in September 2008 to 550 in September 2009 and an anticipated 800 pupils in September 2010.

The school recently won two environmental awards and the Head Teacher was awarded the ‘Best’ Head Teacher in the region. And more importantly the children have scored high in the national tests and are enjoying school
